Youth Art Exhibition – 2014

The first Phillips’ Mill Community Association Youth Art Exhibition closed on January 26 after a successful three weekend run. Eighty-one pieces of art from students at ten local high schools were exhibited. These works  included seven three-dimensional works; the remainder were two-dimensional works including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings, pastels, graphite, intaglio and printmaking.

Nine prizes were awarded by Marcia Weikert, the show’s juror: two $100 prizes; two $75 prizes, three $50 prizes, and three $25 gift certificates to a local art supply store. Three additional artists were given honorable mention.  Awards went to students at  Central Bucks East, Central Bucks West, Council Rock North, Ewing High School, George School, Holy Ghost Prep, New Hope-Solebury High School, Solebury School and The Pennington School.

Two ceramic sculptures and ten two-dimensional works were offered for sale and four sold.  No commission was charged, and the artist received the full proceeds from the sale.

More than 300 visitors attended the show. We fully expect to organize this show again next year.
