2024 HONORED ARTIST

Each year we choose to honor an artist who has been a loyal participant in the Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition over many years.

Janine Dunn Wade

We are excited to share that Janine Dunn Wade has been named the 2024 Honored Artist.

Janine is an accomplished still life painter who can’t remember a time in her life when she wasn’t creating art.  Born in New York City, Janine received her B.F.A. from Villanova University in 1981, and also studied abroad in Paris, Italy and Mexico. Janine’s work has been widely exhibited, and she has received awards from Phillips’ Mill, the Coryell Gallery, and the American Impressionist Society, among others.

She is represented by the Patricia Hutton Galleries in Doylestown, where she lives with her family.

SIGNATURE IMAGE FOR THE 95TH JURIED ART EXHIBITION

Every year the Phillips’ Mill Art Show Committee selects a “Signature Image” of the Mill to be used on posters, ads, postcards, social media and the website for the upcoming show. This is a dynamic opportunity for artists to build their visibility among collectors. In the past, many of our signature images have sold.

Artists are encouraged to include whimsical as well as traditional depictions of the Mill and its surroundings. We encourage artists to consider themes of diversity and to “think outside of the box."

The 2024 Signature Image is “March Afternoon” by Donna Ruane Rogers of Frenchtown. The artist was inspired by the lights and shadows on the Mill the day she decided to enter the contest. As she walked around the building booking for the most dramatic angle, she recalled what it felt like to stand in line outside the Mill on the day she first submitted work to the show last year.“I remember waiting in line to bring my work inside. My heart was racing a little bit. You are looking at everyone else’s work,” she says. “When I found out my painting was chosen as the Signature Image, it blew me away. It is such an honor. The Phillips Mill Juried Art Show is the pinnacle for artists in the area.”

Jurors Shape the Show

WITH NEW JURORS EACH YEAR

EVERY SHOW IS UNIQUE

The Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition is a juried show. The jurors’ selections from the many submissions by our talented pool of local artists are what give our show its look each year. Every year we have new judges. This process gives our show a different look each year, but the look is always based in our local community. Our jurors are accomplished artists in their own right, often with an academic background. We’ve had curators and art historians serve as jurors as well. We’re very proud of the shows they design for us and welcome our esteemed jurors of the 95th Phillips' Mill Art Exhibition.

TO our benefactors and Patrons

A SPECIAL THANK YOU

Thank you to all who support our historic juried art show. You enable us to continue the legacy of William Lathrop, founder of the Phillips’ Mill Community Association along with his friends Daniel Garber, Fern Coppedge, John Folinsbee, Mary Elizabeth Price, Edward Redfield and the many other New Hope School artists who became the core of Pennsylvania Impressionism. They were devoted to exhibiting the art of their time, just as we are committed to showing the art of ours. Your support is invaluable.

Art Show Giving Opportunities

We are deeply grateful for our longtime supporters, and we welcome all newcomers interested in honoring our past and supporting the local arts community. Together we continue the tradition begun in 1929 by William Lathrop, Daniel Garber, Fern Coppedge and their fellow Bucks County impressionists.

All contributions are used to support the Art Exhibition, which benefits the Phillips’ Mill Community Association and the Mill property,

Please consider supporting the exhibition at one of the preferred giving levels of Bronze, Copper, Silver, Gold and Platinum Leaf.

All “Leaf Level” donors will receive an invitation to the Exhibition Opening Reception on Friday, September 20, at 5 p.m. It is a festive evening that offers the opportunity to meet the artists, preview the show and make purchases before it opens to the public.

Silver, Gold and Platinum Leaf donors will be invited to arrive at the reception beginning at 4 p.m. This earliest preview of the Exhibition includes premium parking at the Mill.

Silver, Gold and Platinum Leaf donors may wish to establish a named award, in consultation with the Art Committee.

We welcome and are grateful for contributions of all amounts! All supporters will be publicly acknowledged!
