A New Era for Phillips’ Mill Photo
Maria Dreyer loves the creative side of photography. “This is where I feel that I can get totally lost in the process,” she says. Yet she is also a “stickler for detail” and brings both qualities to her new role as Chair of Phillips’ Mill Photo. She is only the second person in this role. “I jumped right in with the help and support of a lot of really great people.”
After 30 years, Phillips’ Mill Photo founder Spencer Saunders stepped down to pursue his many interests. Maria is incredibly grateful to Spencer for establishing such a well-run committee and prestigious juried photography show.
“It means a lot to have your work accepted in the Phillips’ Mill Photographic Exhibition,” she continues. “We receive 1,500 to 2,000 entries a year, and only about 135 images are accepted.”

A Mill Photo Committee Show
April 21-28, 2024

Now in its fourth year, the “Not Your Run of the Mill” Photo Committee Show will be showcasing our members’ works right after the juried show. We look forward to continuing the tradition of celebrating the fine art of photography throughout the month of April.
Join us in congratulating the award winners and all artists who contributed to the 2024 Youth Art Exhibition.
The show kicked off with two celebrations at the Mill, a Preview Party for Show Supporters on Friday night, and the Awards Ceremony for students, their teachers, friends and family on Saturday.

At the Mill and Online
The Art Committee is busy planning the 95th Annual Juried Art Show at Phillips' Mill. “Everyone brings their passions, skills, creativity and good humor to organize the many aspects of putting on this art exhibition,” says Chair Dennis Riley, who welcomes new members to this committe. If you are interested in art and want to learn more, contact Dennis at artshow@phillipsmill.org.
The Committee will soon start the process of selecting the Signature Image to be used on posters, ads, postcards, social media and the website. It’s a great opportunity for an artist to build their visibility among collectors. In the past, many of our signature images have sold. ArtTalk with Lisa Naples
Wednesday, February 21, 7 pm
Zoom Webinar
ArtTalk goes back to the clay studio with the ever-engaging Lisa Naples. Lisa is a modern-day Beatrix Potter sculptor with an edge. Her creations are often animals that draw you in with their charm. Imagine rabbits and owls and crows in human situations dealing with human questions. A bird looks at himself in the bathroom mirror. It’s titled, “Is That All I Am?” Two rabbits with birds on their backs touch noses getting to know each other. It’s called “Spirito Santo.” Her animals have a complex interior life.
Bon Appétit! A One-Woman Show with Linda Kenyon

Following the performance, enjoy a glass of French wine and a selection of cheeses while you chat with other guests and view an array of Mill members’ artwork, which will be on display during the Mill’s first Members Art Show & Sale.

We’re looking for volunteers to join our talented group of actors, singers and dancers. We also need behind-the-scenes help with design and stage management. No experience necessary. All that is required is the desire to have fun and build our community.
